The act of looking when done for a large amount of time, can become meditating and therefore transform a window into a shrine of sorts. Looking leads to memorization, which leads to worship. Living vicariously through those or things, which we only connect through in windows or frames.

Inner Exhibitionist:
—
Voyeurism can take many forms. As the years pass us by the concept evolves and adapts
to an ever changing society— a society where everything is shared and where everyone is encouraged to explore and feed their inner voyeur. In this sense, this poster reflects the
idea that our inner voyeur begins with our own inner exhibitionist.

Study for New Youth or Juno Capacity:
—
New Youth or Juno Capacity is a montage with images mainly sourced for a Soviet Union era magazine I obtained a few years back. Firstly the name triptych of prints comes from the research online I have done on the magazine. I have not been able to find anything about the magazine whatsoever only possibly what the title translates as 'New Youth' or 'Juno Capacity'. The magazines are written entirely in Cyrillic Script and even translating the title, their is no reference I could find online to their existence.

To me, they look like they could possibly be an art and literature magazine, praising the Soviet Union's culture. They are mainly made up from text but have stunning prints of paintings and illustrations. For the years that I have had them I have always wanted to do something with the imagery in these magazines. I have had a fascination with them for so long. They date from 1970 to 1972 and although I cant understand the text I feel like I am getting an inside into life of the people who lived under a communist regime. This part of history particularly interests me yet I still have no real grasp on it as I have never experienced it.

This essentially sums up the prints I have created; the imagery is taken out of context and there is no point of reference. You may not know what the images are telling you, yet there remains something about the aesthetic which draws you in.

Dissatisfied:

—

Using technology— it’s now easier to spy into the lives of not only your friends and relatives, but of people whom you have little or no connection to at all. With this power, we can closely observe people more successful than ourselves; people more attractive, people who are wealthier and people who are living out our dreams. Before, these individuals may have seemed distant, but with technology bringing us together it becomes even easier to form connections with them, even to interact through mediums such as Twitter and Facebook.
The danger of this kind of voyeurism is the closeness. It enhances feelings of tangibility and realness, like we could reach out and touch these people. Often this forces us to become self reflective in our ways, to compare ourselves in every nuance to the people that we perceive to be our heroes. The overall sensation results in destructive feelings of self-dissatisfaction and guilt. The Internet has brought upon us millions more individuals to contrast ourselves with and to appear insignificant in the wake of.

Shown is the self-reflective interior of our mind, and the attempt to connect with things
that we often forget are worlds apart from. Here, an explosion of frustration takes place in the image's centre with mirrored shards; reflecting every element of our lives to be scrutinized over painfully.

Through a dialogue utilizing online chat, we began to examine the effects of a modernized voyeurism. A phrase, "my true self," sprouted from offline brainstorming methods, and led us to labeling one's online self as "true," and their offline self as "real." Discussion of these selves led to a dissection of a user's actions while online. Actions such as distancing your real self from others in order for your true self to become more social. We question which self is better, and which is preferred? We see that as our truest selves are created, our realest selves are destructed. Is the free flow of information from our true selves dominating our real selves? Should this idea of holding back, which is witnessed in our real selves, better inform the actions of our true selves?

1) Bug Screen 2) The Notice
—

Internet can be seen as the ultimate voyeurism tool, an intrusive platform which eventually puts on an equal level specialized sites and social networks. The information is available, so easily, provoking a " reality distortion ", a new behavior and or a new misbehaviour, for the internet user. The proposed realizations aim at placing the spectator in Peep show situation, without him/her knowing, by means of visual techniques pushing them to an immediate not reading > screen bug, multiple posterization and typographic heaps.

The BUG SCREEN poster, is the modern transposition of the key hole, it places again the spectator in Peep show position, underlines the intrusive character of the social networks. This data set creates a distortion, a breach which allows to glimpse at everyday life and the image of the users..

The NOTICE poster joins as a note of voyeurism in search engines, by specifying the vocabulary appropriate for this type of navigation, and place the social networks (Facebook) on the same level as specialized sites. This represents a warning on the confidentiality policy that is more than permeable of Facebook (Cluley, Graham (February 1, 2010). "Revealed: Which social networks pose the biggest risk?" the pierced newspaper gives a slight hint to older times when this newspaper allowd us to see without being seen, this newspaper being replaced by the screen today.

Amanda Morante

—

In 2008, my graduating year, much of my focus was on my thesis: The history of the security camera & its relation to perceptions of privacy: Behaviors on the web. This research eventually lead to an 8 foot long vinyl wall display simulating the virtual world of Facebook. The project assessed our growing need to project our daily lives to the world through the internet, all while holding onto the desire to remain private regarding more traditional aspects of surveillance.

When I found out about ReVision Arts, and their maiden topic of Voyerism, I decided to revisit my thesis and create a single poster summary displaying the concept behind the initial project.
